Wow, Lake Travis was firing this afternoon. When I arrived @2pm, there were 2-3 kites, and Rob wing foiling. Forecast was 20-30mph @ 3pm, but with a lot of West. I rigged for what I thought the forecast would be. By the time I hit the water, it was gusting over 40mph. I got spanked after 2 runs with the 5.9m2, and ended up downwind of the island. I had to get back sailing in the lee of Windy Point. People were showing up by now. I could barely carry my gear up the boat ramp. I rigged down to my smallest sail 5.2m2 ( was really 4.7 wind for me) and fortunately the gusts were only in the 30s by then. I sailed until 5pm. I had a lot of failed Dw360s in the inside today, but I did make a few. I had a few good floaty jumps, but they were all on the outside where it was less crowded and unsettled. I was overpowered most of the time, and I cannot remember the last time that happened to me at Lake Travis. I heard Rob ended up at Mansfield Dam at the end of his wing foil session. I am glad he is OK. I have to admit, the kiters surprised me how well they handled the conditions today.
