Disappointed. I got to the lake with lots of daylight left. It looked SUPER windy with a lot of dust in the air. I saw no sails/kites on the water (even looking toward Mansfield Dam), which was a suprise. I thought I saw Darren's van leaving as I was driving down Commanche Trail. I rigged up my smallest sail and decided to go for it. Last reading on iW was 30mph gusting to 40. Once I got my wetsuit on, the wind seemed to be backing off a little. Brian S. showed up to kite foil, and I just beat him out on the water. I had a decent run out, but then started to shlog... a lot. I did get a few good runs in, but was never overpowered. I had to make sure I stayed upwind so I was able to make it back if the wind backed off. Bad wind direction? Warm wind not getting down to the cold water surface? Too small of sail for sure.
