This was the best day of the trip. A solid 20 mph wind. I got out early, and rigged big. Most people were rigged on 4.5 -5.0. When people saw I rigged a 7.5 in the morning, some people started to freak. When you are #235, you just cannot go by other's rigs. I was fully wound up, but it felt good to be constantly planing. I was a little overpowered in the gusts, but it felt fine. I sailed all morning, but my back needed a break by lunch. I stopped by the shop to trade the 7.5 in for a 6.8 Duke. When I got back to the beach that afternoon, it felt windier and colder. I decided to rig the 6.2 Natural instead on a 460 mast. Perfect call. For me, a solid 20 mph with a 6.0m2/120liter is just so balanced. I can sail all day, and did just that. My new wetsuit is still killer. No problems We had an awesome Cinco de Mayo. When we got back at dark we hit the hot tub, then we fired up the grill. We ate fresh yellow fin tuna sushi lettuce wraps, and fresh Wahoo tacos from the fish we caught yesterday. We washed it down with cold Negro Modelos. The only way it could have been better was if the temperature was 78F and we sailed in board shorts instead of wetsuits, and water was Caribbean blue. Wind, friends and family... What a day!
