Buck McRockbuff's WindLog for Saturday June 25, 2005

45th session in 2005
Sailed at Bird Island, TX
Wind from the E (mph)
        Average: 18
Rated a 10 of 10

Board: Mistral Screamer II 103 L
Sail: North 5.8 Triple X

Since everyone in Texas wears 10 gallon hats and rides horses everywhere they go, it was damn well time to try the cowboy. The closest that i could get it was having the clew falling in the water at the end and then uphauling. A smaller sail than a 5.8 might be helpful. This is a very fun move to try. Another poor excuse for not completing it could be that the borrowed board was too skinny and slippery. Thanks to everyone who was kind enough to lend me stuff since my wife took all the gear and hit the road. "Tried" the gecko like in the magazine, but it just made me all tired and stuff. A shorter board might help. Probably 10L less volume would help too. Hey...this ideal gecko board sounds a lot like my Trance 94. You, too, can be a cowboy in 15 easy steps: http://www.roynbartholdi.com/windsurf/wsmove.htm?p1=05&p2=06&p3=N&p4=S Prerequisites: Backwinded sailing, helitack (optional), helibutt tack (optional). PSB: Full Moon, Full Sail Rip Curl PSG: Introduced Paul and Alissa to Padre Pizzeria and their delicious Rip Curl draft (not to mention the pizza is good too.)
