The day before: Hoped to catch the cold front as it came in the night before just before sunset, but it arrived a couple hours after sunset. Saw a jumping dolphin out in the gulf while out on the jetty. Saw many dolphins playing in the front of an enormous cargo ship coming into the port. Sunrise session: Barely made it through the freshly blown powder (sand) in the minivan on the road to the beach. Started with the small board, small sail. Large waves...somewhere between head and logo high. Thought I was getting better at bottom turns, but it turns out I was only getting better at bottom turns in side off conditions rather than side conditions. Actually, I'm getting better at both, just side off is a quite a bit easier. Steep waves on the outside. Got what felt like the biggest air to date. Forgot to try back loops. Felt like the ramps were too steep to try my first forward. (How's that for an excuse?) Need to work on being more aggressive in the waves and staying with them longer if I have any hope of ever doing an aerial off the lip. Got my longest wave ride ever, connecting many turns. A bunch of dolphins were waiting for the next monster ship to play with while we and our gear were ferried back to work, reality, and no wind. One of the dolphins waved as he jumped and said, "See ya next time!"
