West wind and low water allowed for a nice high wind flat water freestyle cove. Tried my idea for flat water pre-ponch exercises for the first time. This is where you stay in the straps, bear off, and then do the rig movement without the jump. Effectively, it's the initiation of a high wind, in the straps push tack. It feels sick, but after reviewing the video, it just looks like a fairly boring and botched push tack. http://www.youtube.com/v/n_t1R4NBJCk Also had some really bad attempts at attempting to flaka. Too much "fl" and not enough "aka". Here's one of them: http://www.youtube.com/v/B18oVYYlANo Didn't get any air. Tried 2 back loops. On one I stuck the nose nicely, the other I just landed on my back with the board sideways. Can't expect much more I think on an inland lake. Still afraid of forwards. The best I can seem to muster is to bear off, jump level, tuck the legs, look back, and sheet in. Sounds right, but the problem is that I let go with the back hand that I'm supposed to be sheeting in with! PSB: Bridgeport IPA |
