44 Today went beyond FDE--it was an 11. I was soooo excited to get on the water. On launching my first jump I broke a footstrap but still landed it...does that count as my first one-footed jump? not really, but still fun. (thank you thank you Jason for letting me borrow one.) My JJs are becoming much less flacid. meatier. I am now popping the board and rotating around 90 in the air, then continuing the rotation the rest of the way on the water. Just getting air at all is cool. And I've pinpointed how to improve. Got a nice planing-grade push tack, a rarity for me. Now I am also carrying through entire jumps--take off, air, landing, fixing my hair (hehe)--one-handed. THEN, no joke, out of nowhere I whipped out an upwind 360 in the straps. Philip is my witness. I could never even understand the move, hated to try it, but suddenly I do the whole thing. where did that come from? maybe it's the footstrap. The only reason I don't claim it is I fell trying to sail away. But I've GOT it for sure. I get the trick. it's the momentum. no one explained that in a way I understood, but I feel it now and it's so not hard. I dont know why it took me sooo long to figure that out. But I think it will be a good lead in to flakas. call me crazy but I think I will flaka one day. after I officially UW360. woohoooooOOO! and there's more wind tomorrow.
