Forward loop lesson with Matt Pritchard. Perfect ramps, strong wind, world-class instructor. Did I loop? What a blast blasting around with Matt as we made our way up to Camp One. His plan was to assess our skills and then take it from there. He sailed behind us and then gave me jumping pointers like keep my weight forward on the jumps and REALLY tuck my back leg up. Both of which I thought I was already doing, but realized I wasn't really once I really felt it. We then rode into the beach for some land instruction. The plan was to follow him out, watch him loop, see how easy it is, be inspired, then try it in front of him. Long story short...all I managed to muster was the usual bail out early from a half-assed, no commitment attempt. But, I have the leg tuck and weight forward skills to work on, and once I get comfortable with that, no doubt the looping will follow. Matt said I'm fully qualified to try it, I just have to really want to do it. I've been pre-approved. At one point, Matt was leading Mike was leading me. Mike jumped maybe 6-8 feet, rotated, and landed semi clean. Then a few seconds later, Matt jumped maybe 6.5 to 8.5 feet, rotated, and landed clean (which he did every time.) That was way cool. But apparently not cool enough to make me do it. Completely and utterly exhausted at the end of the day. Looks like there's some real swell though today (the day after) so no rest for us. Best day everrrrrrr. PSB: Mehana Mauna Kea Pale Ale PSG: Grillin' @ home w/B,B,D,L,M,V
