El Prez Chico let me try a pair of his marigolds, but I decided it wasn't all that cold. That, and as Mike pointed out later, wearing a pair of marigolds looks a bit femme if they happen to get a picture of you back looping. The transient response on the board selection finally settled into the Maui Project after flittering between the two boards. Tried 3 or 4 BLs, first one a back slapper, the next ones decent nosers. But the wind picked up, flattening the nice inside swell into mindless small chop that waren't no back loopable. No more back loopability, so what am I to do? Decided that if I don't try a forward, i'm a complete loser, so i tried one on the outside (starboard) on the second to last run. this was my first honest forward attempt in Texas! But, my subconscious freaked when the nose tickled the surface and so I bailed. I also was looking down instead of back. Next time my thought process is going to be "i'm a loser if i don't try one AND hold on AND look back." But, an honest attempt in Texas is indeed a great thing. Thanks to the Peter Hart video and each of the participants in the video for the inspiration. Also thanks to the cold temperatures for making my body somewhat numb in just the right places and thus giving me a feeling of invincibility. Worked on back side turns for shoveit practice. PSB: Full Sail Wassail w/Plunkett, who had a best day ever and also luvs his new board.
