DODGED HURRICANE CLAUDETTE YESTERDAY, NOT EVEN MUCH RAIN, BUT DIDN'T SAIL IN THE 20-35 N/NE. THE WIND BLEW THE PREVIOUS DAY 8-10 FT SURF DOWN TO A SHORE BREAK. TODAY WAS GOOD AND MIGHT HAVE BEEN GREAT EXCEPT FOR A THUNDER,LIGHTNING AND RAIN INTERRUPTION ABOUT 3PM. HAD JUST COME IN TO CONSIDER RIGGING 5.4 THEN AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES IT PASSED. THE WIND BEGAN TO SLOWLY RETURN BUT DECIDED TO GIVE IT UP. HAD SOME GREAT RUNS GOING SOUTH ON THE SANDBAR, ALONG WITH SOME TO ISLAND #1 AND ANOTHER TO ISLAND #2. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STAY ON THE SANDBAR HEADING NORTH WITHOUT REALLY POINTING AND THERE WERE SOME LULLS. WAS ABLE TO GET SEVERAL NICE POWERED SPRINTS FROM WORLDWINDS TO THE BOAT RAMP END MAKING A FEW DUCK JIBES. THE OUTSIDE WAS FAIRLY CONSISTENT BOTH DIRECTIONS WITH GREAT RUNS BETWEEN ISLAND #1 AND THE BOAT RAMP END. FELT MORE OVER THAN UNDER POWERED BUT ONLY IN THE BIGGER GUSTS AND THE LULLS WERE NOT MUCH OF A PROBLEM.
