It started out strong and kept building. I only brought my freestyle board, which becomes difficult to control in that much wind. Also did not have my little sail. I basically wasn't prepared for that much wind this early on, so it meant not doing anything aerial, not really even jumping. But overall no complaints--we had a great wave setup, direction wise, and I got some good practice backside riding. The jibes and wave rides themselves were enough fun to make a great day. You could ride either way. The sandbars on the south side have improved noticebly since the hurricane. A dolphin jumped out of the water in front of me (although I kept also thinking of the shark attack on a surfer here that Tamay told me about right before I rigged). Great warm weather--the perfect temperature, actually. Jennifer came too and kited. Several other kiters got blown downwind and/or quit. No other windsurfers. My palm bothered me a little where I'd bruised it falling Friday, but no big deal. Great start to what I know will be a great week!!!! Next stop: Halloween sail and Austin (bringing my gear!!).
