The best way i can describe today is a whole lot of hype and anticipation (3 days' worth for me because I knew I'd be busy tues and wed of this week and miss the wind those days), then a huge let down. I get there and everyone's powered up, excited, the guys on 5.0s, and i was told to rig 4.2, so I did and got out my little wave board. I had a powered jump off the very first wave, but about 30 seconds later this lull started that never went away. I wound up upright but down the beach, had to walk around 200m back, changed to my big board, then did another similar run (but less walking). Came in planning to rig 1 size down and got the 4.7 on the mast. Wind keeps dropping. By now everyone's come in, and i decide i'm not messing around. I rigged my 5.2, stuck it on the big board, and went out with a lot of confidence, but spent the whole time working really hard to point and still was barely and not even making it back to where i started. every run was painstaking and meticulous, not fun and no jumping, jibing, or wave riding. Just work. So I called it quits and went to class.
