44th session in 2009
Sailed at Manopause Point, TX
Wind from the SE (mph)
Board: '07 JP Freestyle 100
Sail: '08 NP Expression 5.7
Suit: Exo Top & shorts
Dusted off the Showin' Off 2 VHS (dang, I bought it just before DVDs were invented) prior to the session because i've been wanting to see what they say about vulcans and spocks.
Large crowd on the beach, including the group of 30+ sorority girls who at last showed up after years of me inviting them.
Maybe it was the VHS...maybe it was the sorority sisters...but something made me try some spin/speed loops in the flat water today. 1st attempt: started rotating proper with the board, but undid the rotation as soon as I realized it was occurring, just like i usually do. 2nd attempt: didn't get any pop and nothing of note happened. 3rd attempt: fully committed, looked properly back instead of improperly down, popped the board, sheeted in and held on to the boom all the way around to the back slapping welcome on the other side. Problem is, the board didn't come with me. A bit of a headache after that one and called it a day. Reminded me of the many jarring wakeboarding crashes from days of old.
Near the end of the session, a fellow windsurfer yelled to me on the water something to the effect of "go home!" Possibly it was something that rhymes with "go home". Probably, because I later learned that this person was Tom, and Tom is the last person in the world to yell "go home" at anyone. Even me. Probably it was "Yo! Holmes!"
