Fun to see so many people on the water lightwind freestyling due to ABK. It was a very pretty day. It was a cool visual, something missing in windsurfing today. I took off today and friday thinking I might attend ABK if I could work on my vulcans (instruction and video analysis - both of which I desperately need). I saw the weather was not going to let me even plane so chose to bail. I almost did not even go down to Corpus, but reluctantly I dragged myself down there.
I am glad I did. I got to catch up with the ABK guys, who are all super nice. I especially wanted to show them that I was improving, so I went through my limited LWF routine. Fresh and motivated, I was making my UW360s on both tacks, and comfortably sailing backwinded also on both tacks. Last year I could do neither. I was barely able to helitack, and now I have those down better than plain tacks.
Andy showed me his new 2010 JPs FS 109 and 98, as well as his new 92 Twinser (twinfin). So new he has not even put the straps on yet.
But even cooler was his free acquisition, one of Bard Chrisman's custom raceboards from the early 90s. The custom daggerboard still looks bad-ass today.
