Woke up early to the realization that I was too beat up to sail for very long on this day. Meanwhile, iW NAM was showing 25 for San Marcos (which is what I use to gauge the man channel) vs 21 for GI. L and I agreed we would head back. Got into town just in time for the wind ramping up, had a quick lunch, and headed out. The first few minutes I was saying to myself, "Wait! I just did what? Why? WTF?!" But soon enough the wind kicked in enough to see Mark volcanoing himself into the brushy, snake-infested, turtle head poppin' shallows of Vulcan Cove. This made it all worth while.

As a bonus, the sailor we used to refer to as "Chris Elliot" (ok maybe we  still do) made his once per every other year appearance. Give this guy a modern freestyle board and one ABK clinic, and he'd be amazing. So much potential.

Oops, I left my board at the lake either because I'm old, or the van was full of sooo much gear (including Chris and Sara's new board) that it apparently looked "full enough" and so we left without it. Anyhoo, after a moderately panicked and depressed next-morning realization of what had happened, I eventually learned that Robert had picked it up. That's cool, because this means we got to treat him to Flying Saucer, and everything returned to normal.
