085 - Hurricane KARL hit Mexico 500 miles south but sent lots of moisture our way.  Spent an hour in the vehicle yesterday while it rained hard and blew 30-40 mph before everything backed-off.  Today barely made up for the hour yesterday but it ended abruptly when a squall line hit with rain and way too much wind.  It was BAF to the Horseshoe and North Spoils with good power in the gusts but there were lulls.  The water level was high and it was fairly flat but with poor visability.  No rain at first but half way through the wind started building along with the rain.  Noticed a heavy looking cloud approaching fast but made the mistake of going to the North Spoils rather than the Horseshoe Spoil.  Made the outside jibe then the major overpowering wind hit and it got ugly, tail walking, levitation and unable to stay hooked-in, barely managed to sail back to the Horseshoe Spoil.  Took cover in the water and walked part way across the shallows at the point and sailed in from the no boat cut-off.  Hung around awhile and the rain stayed light but still needed to rig smaller and decided to give it up.
