This is the windiest day I have ever sailed in the gulf, hands down. The BHP sensor is wrong b/c it was definitely not blowing 18-20, this was deathgrip survival conditions. Port A said 35-28 during the time I was on the water, gusting into 40s, which I think was more like it. Juan came with me, and happily Mike, Bruno, and Olivier were also there for the morning sesh. Mike and I got out first and I did two long runs just to get oriented, and it was really big. Well over head. I had on the GoPro but it was just so huge and out of control windy that I couldn't get near enough to anyone to get footage of anything but my own view, and the camera had tilted down after some of my landings. After my 1/2 hour warmup I was tired (started out really tired from yesterday) and came in for a break, and on the beach my universal joint tendon broke. Wow, good luck! I swapped it for the hourglass and went out for round two, thinking I was warmed up and was ready for some serious wave riding and back loop attempts like the guys were doing. Boy was I wrong. I was way too tired and should not have gone out, because my grip was sloppy, and plus the wind had dipped a bit so although it was mostly really strong, some holes had started, and like a sitting duck I got taken out by a big outside wave at the farthest point of my run, literally right after my outside jibe. So I DID get epic GoPro footage...of a 15-minute ordeal of swimming after my board and getting worked. Another day of ending up at newport pass. I had never had this happen, and now two days in a row! You know what, though? Still an awesome time! And Juan picked me up in Mike's 4WD. Thanks guys.
