Stopped at Oliver's looking with a new board on the brain. Tried out Tom's 104 liter AHD Maxx Ride, which is shorter and wider than what we currently have. Although it is not the fastest board, I found it relatively easy to pop it out of the water, even at the flat water paradise we know that is Bird Island. We ended up buying the board...it should be a good freestyle board...much better than what I've been trying to do freestlye on. Didn't try any moves on this board other than some duck jibes since it was not yet mine. Wind picked up, switched to the Basset, which now seems a bit long. Tried sailing switch stance at planing speed for the first time, thinking of maybe trying a switch-stance duck jibe. Didn't try the jibe, and crashed after a few seconds of planing switch stance. Switched to the Maui Project, but wasn't powered enough. Laura worked on duck jibes pretty much the entire day. Post-sailing beer: Pacifico (thanks Linda), Corona, and a sip of Real Ale Pale. Ate at Lafitte's for the last time. That place has really gone downhill since it opened. Padre Pizzeria has never let us down.
