Session #1 10-11:30am, 15-18mph Good enough for the planned slalom racing, but not enough wind for me to plane. I was amped to throw a loop, but not going to happen in these conditions. Session#2 3:30-6:30p, 22 mph Excellent wind. I spent the first 45 minutes of the freestyle clinic getting up the nerve to try a forward loop. First attempt I bailed and had a catapult crash. Second, I did not get the board out of the water and the sail ripped out of my back hand. Phil suggested I try planing switch stance. I really was not thinking that was the best of ideas, but what the heck. I ultimately crashed trying to stick the back foot in the strap, but I think I might eventually get there if I keep trying. The clinic ended at 6p, but I had to keep sailing since the weather was too good. I am exhausted. I did not make the closing party since I am staying in Salvo which is 15 minutes away and because I sailed so late into the evening. Great event and freestyle clinic! |
