Dismal forecast in Corpus and Austin kept this Austin yuppie in town (see Fall 2004 issue of Windsurfing magazine) for the long holiday weekend. Storm outflow wind teased me into going to the lake. Not too bad of a session, made a bunch of push tacks, the most I've ever made. Was able to alternate between the clew-first backwinded and the clew-first non-backwinded positions repeatedly while trying to get the board turned far enough to stay non-backed. (Think Austin Powers trying to turn around his little factory cart in the narrow hallway.) This was a good feeling of being in control. Also had some push tacks where I went immediately to normal sailing (non-clew first). SB 360s were better, I'm keeping my head up rather than looking down. Just like in every other move, keep your head up. PSB: Lagunitas IPA Alternative advice to Don't Miss in Corpus Christi in Windsurfing magazine: Skip the Water Street restaurant altogether. Tourist trap. Crowded. Noisy. Over-rated. Average food. Try a little harder, go off the beaten path and you'll find some non-crowded, decent restaurants.
