31st session in 2004 Sailed at Windy Point, TX Wind from the N (mph)

Board: Mike's Lab Course ~150 liters Sail: North 5.8 Triple X |
This was an everything is backwards day: north wind instead of south...boom rigged upside down instead of right-side up...headed that way on port tack instead of this way. All of which made things just a little more difficult, although I did manage to eke out one decent planing push tack, as planing as a push tack can be anyway. Tried clew-first sb360 for the first time. Got the sail to clew first...ok, ready to try it. At this point I was completely dumbfounded and proceeded to sail all the way across the lake, clew-first, frozen with indecision about which way I'm supposed to go around. In my mind, I tried to visualize each way. Both had their pros and cons, and neither seemed like a clear winner. Decided to just try both of them, and see which worked best. In the end, neither worked very well for me, and I'm not even sure that I actually tried it both ways. It's all just a blur. PSB: Full Sale Pale Ale |
