Buck McRockbuff's WindLog for Wednesday May 22, 2019

16th session in 2019
Sailed at Hatchery, WA
Wind from the W (mph)
        Average: 20
Rated a 10 of 10

Board: '16 JP Freestyle 85, '19 Slingshot 103 Wizard
Sail: '14 The Fly 3.2
Fin: Infinity 84CM

I'm thinking the sensor was reading extra low today, because when it was reading 17 (14 g20) I was still able to easily waterstart the 3.2. But, maybe the strong Spring current combined with the HUGE wing and long mast in the water gives lots of extra apparent wind as I quickly drift toward the Pacific. Even so, I frequently felt over-powered on the 3.2 and was pure luffing once flying. I even came in to switch to the freestyle board, which didn't work so I switched back. This may all be due to riding the 84cm monster. I need to try the 57cm wing again.

There were like 5 more people than the usual Spring time bunch recreating at The Point, which made it seem awful crowded, even though the parking lot is mostly empty. Soon there will be hundreds more at the Hatch, mostly people just hanging out at their vehicles or on shore most of the time, meaning the water doesn't really get all that much more crowded. At The Point anyway. The waters directly off of Geezer Cove and Poop Rock(?) are still quite empty.

Still no sign of UK Girl. Yes Mike, she's real and she's not me pretending to be someone else.
