Today has got to be the best or tied for the best south wind wave conditions I've ever sailed here. Great direction, clean waves, and my absolute perfect temperature (air 79, water 68). My new wetsuit showed its versatility, because it felt warm in 50 degrees yet didn't get me hot today. I didn't really need a wetsuit with the air this warm, but with the cooler water I wore it in case of a breakdown. My time was tight today, and then I got a flat tire on the JFK causeway on the way to the island! Ugggh. I was getting mentally ready to abandon sesh, but I limped to the first parking lot, started my stopwatch for motivation, and started a tire changing frenzy. After I had jacked up the car and halfway finished undoing the lug nuts, a huge guy pulled over and went full pit crew. He pulled off the tire, I tightened lug nuts while he lowered the jack, and he re-tightened everything while I stowed all the stuff, and he lifted the tire by the hole in the middle with two fingers to put it in my car. 9:30 later, I was back on the road and still got a full hour in and made it to our chili party on time. Yay! I would have finished on my own, but much slower, and I credit my session to him. People are awesome.
