Ended the Great Sailing Drought of 2020 with my first session since January. And it was a fun one. I forgot my freestyle board and freestyle fin and didn't pack my small sails, but ended up barely noticing or caring. I worked on basics and just tried to keep constantly moving to knock some rust off and build some muscle for my PSC trip. Happy that I got some fun monkey ducks (I'll never get tired of that move) and finally an actual jump jibe I think I can claim. I was overpowered and got flattened on all but one of my upwind 360s and push tack attempts, but it gave me a workout that I appreciated. For extra practice I made myself only water start (no touching bottom) in whatever direction I fell, plus tried sailing unhooked a little here and there. Phil S came, and it was fun watching his moves. I appreciate being part of a sport in which a world champ can just show up and park next to you.
