I never got around to logging this, as our power went out for three days and I was more focused on survival mode for a while. But I did get to sail the second front of the historic winter storm. With the bad weather and the freeze predicted later that evening, I stayed very close to home. I launched at Poenisch around 3:30pm. Rigging was very cold because the parking lot forms a wind tunnel. It was 36 degrees. Juan came to watch with the girls, both for entertainment and safety. Poenisch has eroded a lot since I last sailed there, and the launch was a little difficult, but getting out of the water was very hard. My hands got cold on the water and I had the hardest time lifting my gear high enough to clear the broken concrete, with the wind tunnel effect and steep hill only complicating things. Other than my hands, I stayed toasty warm the whole time in my semi dry suit. And my hands came right back with some warm water Juan poured on them at the car. I only got chilled taking my suit off. Not great sailing conditions at all, but I loved conquering the storm. So I sailed fronts #1 and #2, but #3 was a no-go as by then the air and water temps were lower and I was cold even inside my house.
