I went for it. Small wing board, smallish HA front wing (ART 1099). Decided to go with big wing just in case the wind backed down. I would have loved to go with the big wing board, same foil, and smaller wing. My big wing board is under a warranty claim. I did surprisingly well at first. Nailed my first jibe and footswitch, but slowly, as the wind got more erratic, falls started to happen. Starts got tougher. Fatigue started to set in. After 2 hours, I decided I needed to head in and hydrate. I was overpowered on the big wing and I was going to switch to my smaller wing, but I worried the wind might back off and I might get into trouble on the small wing board with the small wing. I looked at the iW sensor at WP, and it was 24. So to play it safe, I rigged up my windsurfing gear. The wind backed off, A few planing rides, but nothing great. I am for the most part done trying to windsurf at Lake Travis. Maybe on a big cold front I might rig it up. |
