Tried Uppers first, but it stunk. Lowers was quite nice. Gentle waves, but bigger than summertime waves, allowed for some down the line practice. Thought about BLing, but they don't feel natural in sideshore conditions. Instead, worked on tabletops, a chick move according to a certain Frenchman. Practiced looking back while jumping. It felt good. Should be a cakewalk (whatever that is) to apply that skill to forwards. Tried that thing where you jibe and stay strapped and clew first and then jump jibe a wave...it didn't work. Thought I might do that thing where I get tired and relaxed and then try a forward (it seems to be the way I roll) but the wind kicked up a notch for the second session and I got delusions of being overpowered, the kind that you get when you're on too big of a board. So it was mostly survival mode for the 2nd session until a voice in my head with a British accent said "quality, not quantity" so I called it a day. Super-Elated to be back on Maui! Feels like home. But not in that annoying way where Maui is your home and you're spoiled and you think a day like today is nothing special. It was the best Christmas ever! PSB: Longboard Lager (it's my dream to someday have the motivation and the resources to administer to myself a taste test between LL, Session, Bud, and Bud Light and see how it turns out. I don't really like lagers all that much.) PSG: Porterhouse steak and Kraft McCheese in the rainforest w/E.
