Mark's WindLog for Monday July 21, 2008

30th session in 2008
Sailed at Doug's Beach
Wind from the W (mph)
        Average: 25
Rated a 9 of 10

Board: RRD FSW 110
Sail: 5.3 Maui Sails Legend

We wanted a change of venue, so we went to Doug's. It was so nice to have the place to ourselves and just a few others. The only downside is the gear carry, but well worth it.

Wind was a little light, but I rigged the 5.3 anticipating more wind later. I did plane 1/3 of the time in the morning, and launched off a big steep chop. I was not fully in the straps, and my back foot came out before I landed. The drop was bigger than I thought, and on landing, the kit and my front foot still in the strap shot forward. The back leg hit the water and stayed put. The result was an unintentional split of the legs and a strained groin. Big wind in the afternoon, blew out my left forearm with tendonitis.

The pros showed up late. Man, are they good.

Crowded late, it was a great day, and the post session beer tasted incredible. Great to share it with friends.
