A laundry list of reasons made us decide to stay in Austin and forego the sure manliness of sailing in waves. There weren't any ramps to speak of, so a BL fest was out of the question, which I suppose goes without saying since I was on a 5.2. Did short sessions and in between warmed up my hands by genuflecting to the holy hotbox (a cooler with a jug of hot water and a retired wetsuit in it.)
Was able to pop and rotate on vulcan attempts while wearing booties this time out. (Maybe I had better luck than last time because the straps were too tight width wise on this board?) Completed a very wet V that was not at all pretty, but my feet stayed in the straps the entire time and I never let go of the rig. I'm claiming it as the first one on this smaller, non-freestyle board. And without a freestyle fin. And without the use of Tyson's old 5.7 sail that already knows how to do this move plus a whole lot more. I was stuck switch stance for much longer than I cared to be because I couldn't get the booties to come out of the straps. I was unintentionally planing switch in the straps while still trying to get unglued. And also too I suppose I can claim the switch-stance in-the-straps water start also too.
Gotta go order up some DaKine mittens now. Thought about heading back out to the lake for another session, but that thought didn't last long enough to get me into the car.
