The wind turned out to be much better than I expected today. I decided I would head out briefly to the lake to see how floaty my new Naish 115 liter FS board was. I was hopeful I could get away with some LWF on it using the 6.2m2 rig. Quickly, I realized that despite recently dropping my weight to 104kg., the board was going to barely float both me and my rig. It was uphaulable, but barely. There were times today when Brian joked asking where my board was, since it was ankle deep underwater. The sad thing is this is the biggest production freestyle board currently made. I need about a 20+ mph gust to pop it on a plane, but when it does, it is a lot of fun. It is very fast and light underfoot. It turns great too. My first gybe was one of the best duck gybes I have ever executed (which is not saying too much). That said, it was smooth and I almost planed out of it which really surprised me. The nose is short, and I half heartedly attempted a vulcan and got more rotation than I usually get. I still have a long, long way to go, but I bet if it ever happens, it will probably be on this board. The strap inserts are spaced a little narrow for my feet. 155mm vs 160mm. It should be fine with bare feet, but may be a little scary with my size 13 booties.

I so wish I could take tomorrow off. The forecast looks perfect for the board. The weather is so nice right now, and the water feels great wearing a wetsuit. Hopefully it will last through the weekend.
