So, I finally managed to flash my old cell phone to a new operating system (after thinking I had screwed up and bricked the thing) thanks to downloading gobs of install files via the WiFi connection at Barnes and Noble. But now everything is working fine. I even managed to call Brian tonight and now, lookeethar, I'm posting my windlog on it. Back from the dead. It's been a long time since I've been at Bird, but it feels good to be back. Especially since I packed my 3/2 and 5/3 + hood just in case, and then wound up not using either and buying a rashguard from Don. Beautiful day with full sun and the water has been cooking with all the warm temps. A long time since I've been sans wetsuit. First time out I had a 7.0 Maui Sails Titan with a 112 Fanatic Freewave. The Titan felt pretty good once I got it balanced and the outhaul firmed up--not sure who sailed it last, but there was just too much chop for the board--I'd forgotten the floaty advantage the laguna gives you. It felt kind of weird too--kind of slow and it seemed like I needed to clinch my front foot in the strap and keep on trying to yank it to windward. Maybe my fault more than the board, but never got too comfortable. I traded it in for a smaller Kode 102 (which is my favorite line of boards nowadays). I think it was brand new--the fin and the board just hummed in the water and it sat flat without too much pearling and if it did easy to recover. Plus it was fast, just took off with the 7.0 when the wind picked up and made the sail feel a lot less heavy. In defense of the Fanatic, its a bigger board, but I think I'll be avoiding them from now on. Not a nuking day, but steady enough to not require any work, and its been a while so it gets an 8.
