Mark's WindLog for Saturday May 23, 2009

41st session in 2009
Sailed at Punta San Carlos
Rated a 10 of 10

Board: RRD 115 FSW, RRD Twin 99
Sail: 5.8 Ezzy Freewave

Morning session was good. Waves were definitely bigger, and most of the better riders headed over to the Chili Bowl. That meant more waves for Hugo, Laura, and me. I was underpowered on the 5.8, probably because I had too much outhaul. The new Ezzys are a little tough to figure out. I was having too much fun to stop and adjust it.

After lunch, waves were even better, and I had an even better time out there. The wind was stronger and the sets were better.

Since I was powered, I thought I would give the 99 Wave Twin a go. Wow! What a great board. Super short and fun to turn. It went upwind really well too. I want one. I ended up in Bombora and the bottom dropped out on me too. Made for a long swim as I tried to hold on to my gear with all my might, but the next wave ripped the rig out of my hands. I was lucky, I got to my gear before it ended up on the rocks. I sailed the 99 until the wind was a little less consistent and then called it a day.
