Today was my birthday and of a significant number. The plan was to go out to dinner. When I saw the forecast for CC, I was hoping I could bail. Thankfully, Jill let me go.
One day trips to Corpus are long days (8 hours of driving), but so worth it when the wind delivers, and it did. I sailed straight from 12:30p to 5:15p without a stop except to change boards. I sailed the Skate the majority of the time, but switched to the Quatro in the last 2 hours to see if it would help my vulcan attempts. It did not. I was getting poor rotation all day, despite good pop on the Skate. By the the end of the day, I had very little pop left. My legs were toast. Unfortunately, that is where todays VAOD is from.
I was kind of bumming a little since I was making no progress, and I had high hopes on my birthday. So for the last 45 minutes I thought I would try a carve 360. I was getting close on my initial attempts, then I saw Don doing one. I saw him take his front foot out of the strap at the end. Bingo. I know you are supposed to keep it in, but hey, I needed some success for the day.
Really nice day.
Congratulations to Mike and Julie on baby Jack!
