I started the day at Barton's, but when it was clear I was not going to plane, I decided to head to Canadian Hole. The wind was better and building. Soon I was planing. I was able to pull off a few DW360s and the duck gybes were going well. Initially, I had to work to stay upwind, but as the wind started to build quick I became overpowered. I tried a few vulcan attempts, but I was getting zero pop. I mean none. I would push the board down, but it would stay down. It was frustrating. I was able to jump though, so I stayed in B&J mode. I soon became overpowered about the time the ABK guys showed up. Andy let me try his Skate and Loco 4.3m2. He was happy with it. He had the outhaul on pretty tight. It felt a bit twitchy to me, but did feel light. Andy was pulling off near planing loops close to shore, shakas in the strong breeze, and my favorite move of the day, a free willy. I guess since you don't see them done anymore, the complex willy skipper moves look more cool. I switched down to the 5.3 and put in the MFC FS Pro as the wind increased. MUCHO MEJOR. Brendon was pulling off high speed vulcans with long slides. Tom is still looking for his first. It will be any day now. He over-rotates and slides...looks very close. Hmmm, it really looks like Brian's spock attempts...
Great day here. Hoping for one more on Friday.
