It's been a long time since I've had it handed to me in the waves, but that's exactly what happened today. The result was a good long working and an irreparable rip to the good old 5.2. I never thought that this, my 82nd day sailing it, would be the last with my faithful friend. The problem was me trying to push limits of going back out for "just one more run" in the face of a dying wind and large close-out sets with a decent current. I will say that the last set I caught was pretty epic, though, which is what had me trying for more. Over head, clean, peeling, steep but still long enough to lace together some turns and cuts, and once that one dropped you, you could pick up another. You'd catch the first one off the tip of the south jetty.

No one else on the water for this long lunch sesh other than a couple surfers, and signs of kite action that stayed contained to the beach.
