When I look at the 7:45-8:15 am wind graph now I realize why this was so hard. I started off in this absolutely monster gust that lasted for a whole run, in and out. I made my outside jibe, board barely sticking to the water, all the way sheeted out, and was ready to blast back to the beach and quit while ahead. But I couldn't drive all the way for just one run....and I made my inside jibe too....so I hung in there for what turned into a half hour session. It was getting more under control toward the end, but I was the only one on the water (Juan watching from car) and waves were small and choppy, so it was more survival mode than fun. During the lulls I did get in some wave riding, though--made the trip completely worth it.

Patrick was showing up just as I left and rigged his 4.2. Now I see that the wind steadily dropped after I left and more people were showing up, so hopefully my report didn't cause everyone to rig for the apocolypse.

B,L,M,J did not miss out by not driving for this :)
