The situation started out looking sketchy, with one of the biggest beach crowds I have seen there, plus surf camp, jet skiing, and kayaking going on, and only marginal wind. I really wanted waves so I sailed anyway and the gamble proved worth it. No one but me was out past the first break, after two tacks and I had the length of the beach to myself and the choice of any wave. I'm not used to being able to sail near the jetty, and those waves were really fun to ride. Chest high and only short rides but great skill practice. I liked being able to practice wave riding in a different direction from PSC but still feel some skills I started learning there translating to here. For here it was a really unusual combo of gentle waves, jetty blocking the current, and no surfers to worry about, so I tried more stuff than usual. The wind filled in nicely and I stayed out late. Car is still loaded and it looks like more similar forecasts this week.
