Sometimes, a session is an unexpectetedly good one. No, only non-planing wind, with holes. A crowded summer waterfront, with lots of motorboat chop. But, sometimes, it just feels like you are stealing one. I loved that despite the no-show afternoon hyped-forecast, I found enough time to just get out there. And then once there, my gear felt so nice. Yes, at times I was sinking to my calves, but everything was balanced. No struggle, like I had at PSC. I loved seeing the kiters struggle to keep their kites aloft today, while I was pulling off simple UW360s and Helitacks. I was sailing backwinded, while Dana was swimming for the shoreline dragging his kite behind him. Add that, a group of 20-something guys were more interested in what Brian and I were doing than Dana was also gratifying. Usually, the subplaning wind favors the kiters on the beach, but not today. So, nothing special, but I am glad I loaded up for few hours of water time, even if it was only LWF.
