I finished my quantitative test in time to get to the gulf! Good thing I had the car loaded in the hopes of that happening. There was no one to weather chat with but kiters, and as a result I rigged too small. (It was reading 27 mph and they were super powered up but I guess the wind itsn't sticking to the water yet). Odd to be schogging on my 4.7/74L in 27 mph but I came in and rerigged to biggest gear, 5.2/84L. Then I was overpowered. Agh. Came in and switched back to the Evo and that was the magic combo. That board is heavy and doesn't plane easily, but carves and bottom turns really well when you're very powered up. At the end my new mast stuck together and I had to get help from the kiters. Saw a big turtle out there! No tar.
