ABK Day #4

I woke up @ 7am and looked at my FB feed and saw Mike was already heading to The Packery for waves. He said he was hoping the wind would last. I looked at one forecast that said it would die @ 10am. Another did not have wind until 4pm (like yesterday). So, I put on my clothes to get something from my car, and it was super windy in the hotel parking lot. I decided to pack up, check out of my hotel and hit the water before it died. I arrived at BIB @ 8am and it was looking like nice planing wind. When I started to rig my 6.3m2, Andy pulled up on a bicycle. He complained last night at the Sandwich Shop that he has not had any planing wind to sail for weeks due to bad luck with weather and his clinic responsibilities. I encouraged him to rig up his 5.3m2 and get out there with me. It was a really nice morning. The sun was just rising and the water was butter flat. The wind was unobstructed as well. I was having fun windsurfing again. Vulcan attempts were just flowing without thought.

I sailed until clinic started (9:30am), and Andy called me over to him and he told me he broke his foot on his first spock. I felt bad for him.

Alissa arrived for clinic and said the forecast she saw was steady wind throughout the day. She was right. It only got more strong and steady as the day progressed. I rigged down to 5.9m2 for the morning session, and 5.3m2 for the afternoon.

We had one loop lecture in the afternoon, but Andy was uncomfortable, and he kept it brief. I had my GoPro all day, and I was going to later count how many vulcan attempts I tried for the day (many!), but I just found out the battery died after 30 minutes. What a bummer. My best attempts were in the morning session. One, I had a good slide backwards into Clayton, but no hand change. By 4pm, I was completely knackered. It was yard sale time. There was a little video, but I had nothing left. I wish they would have started video earlier in the day. No progress in my Vulcan attempts this clinic again, but I know they tried their best to help me.
