The wind was taunting me to go out on the old gear, so I got the rigging down from the rafters in the garage, dusted if off, and pulled the old Seatrend from underneath the house. Looking at the condition and the style of the old gear, I thought maybe I should just trash it, so I put the rigging back up in the rafters. This seemed to please the wind gods, since it then started to have sustained gusts to 20. Rigged up, disintegrating mast sleave and all, and went out and had a ball. Did helitacks and ducks with the fully cambered race sail. Having to pop the cams for the backwinding was an interesting challenge. Impressed many of Laura's relatives with my new moves they've never seen before. SB360's proved very difficult with the full cams, and I didn't complete any. That Seatrend is VERY difficult to get off the water (i.e. chop hop) I think it's the footstrap holes are too far forward. Must've been the style at the time. Need to get a big wide board up there before next summer in order to introduce a new generation to windsurfing. Told Laura's parents they can trash the Magnum 370 from 1984. Post sailing beer: Sam Adams Lager. Unfortunately, upper lower Michigan does not take it's beer very seriously, so good beer that's fresh is difficult to come by.
