Warm and windy forecast across the state as a big cold front promised to usher in winter temperatures for the rest of the year. The local and even CC forecast had clouds and chances of rain, so I decided to drive all the way to SPI for some sun and the possibility of leftover wind Sunday morning. Evan wanted to come, which made it a really special trip for me. The drive to the water's edge at the SPIW/K Park was wet and sketchy, but we made it without too much difficulty. There were about 10 people on the water that afternoon. Conditions were really nice. I was proud of Evan since he was on a 4.3m2 and he had not sailed since this time last year. Fortunately, we had driven down in my wife's 2WD SUV. We almost got stuck driving out of the park later that day.

I awoke to dense overcast skies and 30-35mph winds the following morning, so I headed back to the place we sailed yesterday. I was alone and the launch was now completely underwater from the strong breeze pushing water into the Laguna Madre overnight. I thought about rigging up for one last sail of 2015, but I was afraid the SUV would get stuck and I did not have Evan with me at the time. I briefly looked for an alternative launch site, but I gave up when I saw no one else on the water.
