Day 1 of US Windsurfing Nationals. We started in the afternoon and I took 1/2 day off work. We were fed a wonderful huge buffet at check-in and were given a nice rash guard and fitted t-shirt. The afternoon did not have the wind we hoped for. I planed maybe 25% of the time. The people with slalom sails planed entirely, so I was not in the same universe as them, although we all went off the line at the same time, which was exciting. They were also fast enough to finish a race, go into the beach, get a snack, etc., then start the next race. To get back to the start in between I literally had to sail continually. I sailed for four hours and was exhausted and hungry by the end, but happy. I was slow but prided myself on at least never falling in any race until the last mark rounding of the day. We finished the evening with another included buffet - tacos and beer at the yacht club. We met so many nice people.
