Recap of the rest of Nationals:
Day 2 - Formula, Kona, and Long distance classes ran. Slalom and freestyle were very close to running but had not quite enough wind. I hung out on shore with Ryan F. and Steve Hambly, plus all the windsurfers. We still had fun. Beers were had and stories swapped. Went to B&Js afterward with Juan, Olivier, UK Mike, Phil Sol, Monika, Terry, Martin, Vanessa, Chris, and Nono.
Day 3 - Formula and Kona classes ran. Not enough wind for slalom or freestyle. Lucky for me because I was at a bachelorette party in Port Aransas and would have missed it anyway.
Day 4 - Formula and Kona classes ran. Monika called me to say the freeride was starting in an hour. I had just driven back from Port Aransas and was at Hobby Lobby getting markers to finish the awards. Cue driving to the condo for my bathing suit, the house for my board, and to the park for a rigging frenzy. I was ready with 10 minutes to spare and we were about to launch but then the wind got weird and a storm started south of here. Slalom was also going to run. We all spent an hour and a half on hold, then the day was called off. I had been conserving energy for another marathon sesh like Wednesday, but at that announcement some of went out and played around in light wind. I was getting my push tacks and backwind duck jibes on the Trance! I left to finsh labeling the awards. People seemed to like them. I was also surprised to learn I got 3rd place women's slalom, although I never crossed the line ahead of a single other sailor. The only reason was endurance. I completed every race, whereas others stopped sailing. Stubbornness pays off again! And for my troubles I got an XL Sailworks t-shirt.
