A beautiful warm sunny BIB afternoon. Mid-week the forecast showed planing wind only for Friday for the holiday weekend, which bummed me out a little since I had to work last weekend. Of course, I had to work this Friday too, so I got excited when there was an afternoon bump in the forecast this morning. I decided to go for it. The gamble paid off.

I thought I made progress on my early vulcan attmpts. I allowed the nose to rise higher on the pop and delayed my head/body turning backward. I felt way more over the board and I thought I had more of a slide, but when I watched the GoPro video I realized it looked very similar to most of my previous attempts. The more tired I became, the more I regressed to the usual mistakes. I smashed my middle toe on the side of the back footstrap and hurt it badly. I have a nasty distal hematoma at the nail base and I will likely lose the nail. It was all worth it.
