I went down for the day. Much of the city is still not cleared to bathe or drink their tap water. It is never comforting to think of what gets dumped into the bay here. But for me, the excitement of warm southerly wind before the super cold front helped put this out of my mind. I broke my harness lines last session, so I  put new ones on the boom in the dark in the driveway before I left Austin. The wind today was super gusty! I rigged my 5.9m2 and was way overpowered in the gusts. After fiddling with the new harness lines, I decided it was time to work on vulcans. The gusts were a bit scary, but the photo summarizes what eventually happend next.

I kept getting hooked-in, and eventually crashed violently enough to put my head through not one, but two sails!!! Actually, after it happened on my 5.9m2, I put my right arm up to protect my head before impact and my elbow punched through the sail instead. I sat on my car's bumper pretty bummed after I derigged, and the only sail I had left was the 6.3m2 and it was still super windy. I decided, I came this I better suck it up and crank on the downhaul and get out there. I am glad I did! I had fun, but my forearms are barking as I type this. I am still very bummed to take such a big step backwards again on my vulcan attempts. I hope I get one more chance before 2016 comes to a close.
