I am very stoked to be here for OBX-Wind 2017 and the Soltysiak Freestyle Clinic. The weather, on the drive from VA in the morning, was cloudy and wet. It  then cleared nicely in the afternoon when I arrived in Salvo. Most of the afternoon was light, @ 14mph. The guys next door were out on big kites. I debated @ 4:30 pm whether to just crack a beer and make dinner or give it go for a nice LWF session. I saw the wind was on its way for tomorrow and it may get here @sunset. I decided if I am staying on the water, there is no excuse for me not to go out, so rigged up. As the kiters came off the water to call it a day, I was just heading out with the plan to sail until sunset. Five hundred feet later, the first big gust hit and I was off. I even had to put on some more outhaul. Awesome unexpected first session! The most interesting thing was the realization how much better my Flikka board is than my previous Choco Rodeo. I can plane so much easier on the Flikka and turn much tighter. 360s were tough for me, and I am going to have to re-learn how to do them on the Rodeo. Forecast looks very good right now.
