My first windsurfing session for 2019. I usually have at least a half dozen sessions by this time of year, and several of them high wind. The forecast, got a little bump on Friday. Desperate, I went for it. The forecast was thankfully spot on. There was a nice but brief 45 minute peak @ 2:30. I got to try my new sail. So far, I like it. Membrane sails feel special when they are powered up.Unfortunately, I have been dealing with really bad lower back issues. Considering I was just barely able to tolerate the 4 hour drive, and I was finally able to bend over and pick up things off the floor just a few days ago, I am thrilled to have survived the day without making my lower back worse. I was pretty stiff, sore, very rusty, and overweight which did not help my early planing or fast tacks. I was able to pull off a few C360s, backwind gybes, and duck gybes. No donkeys. I cannot wait to sail again. Let's hope the next three quarters of the year make up for this early start.
