An uncertain forecast with very little early response on who was sailing where on an afternoon W wind. I got distracted, and then finally went to the lake when the clouds started to disappear and the wind started to pick up. Josh beat me out there. Others apparently drove to Canyon Lake, which I am sure was the best place for the wind direction. It looked good driving down Comanche Trail, but W wind always looks better than it is. Josh was just off the water when I arrived and he swore it was 20-30mph as I was rigging my 5.9m2 to be safe. He convinced me to rig smaller. The first run was perfect, so I was grateful. Then the wind dropped and looked like it was going to tail off to just 20mph gusts. A long upwind slog looked imminent, and I was feeling probably similar to how Guy felt on Wednesday. Then, a miracle happened. It started cranking. Josh sailed a bit longer, but after a while, I was alone enjoying an almost perfect Lake Travis day with the exception of no starboard ramps, only port. I don't know why at this point I still suck so much jumping on port. Gusts were up to 40mph and it became very gusty at the end. I saw a kiter try to launch, but he changed his mind given the conditions. It also started to cloud up after while, and so I called it a day. It was very nice not to have to drive anywhere to get a good session in.
